Episode #38: An Iowan's Shadow on the Veluan FrostEl Goro and SonOfOdin take another look at some folk metal with the newest album from the Dutch band Heidevolk. Then it’s back to Finland for some cello action with Apocalyptica and their new full-time vocalist. They return to the USA in the back half of the show, first with the over-the-top antics of Wisconsin’s Lords Of The Trident, and then El Goro tries recapturing his youth with Slipknot’s second album.

Heidevolk is a pagan folk metal band from the Netherlands. The lyrical themes of their music are inspired by nature, Germanic mythology, and the history of Gelderland. Almost all of their lyrics are sung in Dutch.

Apocalyptica : Shadowmaker (2015)
Apocalyptica is a Finnish metal band from Helsinki. The band is composed of three classically trained cellists a drummer, and a new full-time vocalist. Originally a Metallica tribute band, their music borrows elements from a wide variety of genres including classical music, neoclassical metal, thrash metal, and symphonic metal.
